DitchingSuburbia is about families leaving traditional suburban lives in search of:
- Simpler living - Closer family - Richer education - Uncommon adventures
Some families live in RVs, others choose a boat. Some families scale down into a tiny house, others start homesteading and learning about permaculture. Some head downtown to big city apartments, others pack their world into suitcases and hop from country to country.
No matter the mode, we are united in our goals.
We left suburbia in 2010, hitting the road in an RV with our 12 & 13-year-old. We've been to 41 states, swam with manatees, kayaked with monkeys, and watched rattlesnakes mate. We've parked our rig in the middle of an Indian pow-wow, on an animal rescue Ranch, and on a goat farm. The 13-year-old is now 21 and is in Australia with YWAM (Youth with a Mission). Our 19-year-old daughter recently launched and is creating a life of her own.
