Cinco De Mayo is something we look forward to every year. It's comes as the weather is starting to turn, and people are ready to get out and cut loose. It doesn't hurt that we have a deep seated love for tacos and tequila as well. While we know about the party end of things, do you know what the event originates from?
The fifth of May does have historical significance in Mexico. It originated as a celebration of the victory of General Ignacio Zaragoza's troops over French forces in the Battle of Puebla on May 5th, 1862. Though the holiday is not observed nationally in Mexico it has become a celebration of Mexican heritage in the United States. The 80's saw a transition to much more of a party atmosphere (at the hands of the leading beer companies), leading us ultimately to the parties and events we know and love today.
With that in mind, we present 9 Shirts To Help You Celebrate Cinco De Mayo.
